Harness Racing at Woodbine Mohawk Park

Woodbine Mohawk Park is a harness track first and a casino site second. This page covers the race nights and the usual first post. It also gives a short history of the track and the schedule at Flamboro Downs, the other harness track nearby.

A Racetrack Since 1963

Mohawk Racetrack opened on April 26, 1963. The Ontario Jockey Club built it on a 400-acre site.

In 2018 the track took the name Woodbine Mohawk Park. That was the year Woodbine's standardbred racing moved there permanently. Woodbine Entertainment owns the track, and Elements Casino Mohawk is the casino on the same site.

Standardbreds are harness horses. Each one pulls a light two-wheeled cart called a sulky, with the driver seated behind. Nobody rides on the horse's back, which is the first thing a newcomer notices from the rail.

Five Race Nights a Week

Races run Monday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The usual post time for the first race is 6:30 p.m. ET. Tuesday and Wednesday are dark nights on the track.

For January to March 2026, the AGCO approved 50 race days at Mohawk Park. The guide does not print when the season ends. Check the track's own race calendar before you head out on the 401.

Flamboro Downs, the Other Harness Track

Flamboro Downs sits beside Elements Casino Flamboro. It returned to racing on September 6, 2026. For the rest of 2026, races run on Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays.

Post time there is 6:25 p.m., five minutes ahead of the usual start at Mohawk. Thursday, Saturday and Sunday are race nights at both tracks, so plan on one track per evening.
